About Bourg St Pierre

Bourg St Pierre - the last village before Italy - saw thousands of pilgrims and various armies pass by, including those of Julius Caesar and Napoleon Bonaparte. You'll also discover some remnants of times long gone, including one of the oldest church towers in Switzerland (1000 years old),

Bourg-St-Pierre is located in the mountains at 1632 meters above sea level, in wild and snowy landscapes far from the hustle and bustle of the cities.
One of the variants of the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt touches Bourg-St-Pierre and continues from here towards the Matterhorn.

Arrival

Bourg St. Pierre is the last village in the Val d'Entremont and lies at 1632 meters above sea level.

If you continue, you will enter Italy in the Valle d'Aosta, either through the road tunnel or over the St. Bernard pass (2500 m.a.s.l.).

By public transport, Bourg St. Pierre is connected to Martigny several times a day. Below you will find an overview:

Bourg - St Pierre has four restaurants.

Shops

There is a small kiosk in Bourg, some grocery stores in Liddes, and a Coop and Migros in Sembrancher.

Indoor swimming pool

There is an indoor swimming pool in the village. The water is heated to 29 degrees Celsius. With the Pass St. Bernard, you can use the indoor swimming pool for free.

Sauna

There is a small infrared sauna at Petit Velan. At the Napoleon Hotel there is a larger sauna facility with sauna, a Turkish bath and a nicely designed relaxation area. The entrance fee is 20 francs.

There are two SAC huts in the commune of Bourg St Pierre:
Caban Velan (2600 m.a.s.l.)
Caban Valsorey (3000 m.a.s.l.)

Skilift

At the entrance of the village is the ski lift "La Lorette". It is ideal for the first 3 - 4 days of your skiing career.
